A simple, head-turning
triangular shawl that starts with just a few stitches at the center
neckline, and increases in pattern.
Lacy and solid triangle motifs
are set within the larger shawl triangle panels. The stitch is
stockinette-based and pleasing width vs. length triangle ratio. A
coordinating edging is used to bind off, as well as create a pretty
triangle-shaped finish to the outer edge of the shawl.
Shown in
Spring at Rocky Springs Cloud 9. Knitted by Jackie E-S.
Note: Spring at Rocky
Springs is no longer available in Cloud 9 but many colorways are
remaining that would be suitable.
For a 36" deep by 72" wide
shawl in fingering weight yarn, plan for approximately 1200
yards at 4-1/2 sts./in. over pattern on size 7 U.S./4.5 mm suggested - -
easily adjusts to other sizes by knitting to length desired, and
other weights of yarn with corresponding adjustment in needle size
and yardage.
The model below was knit by
Jackie E-S with one skein of
Cloud 9 and makes a nice shoulder wrap. Only two skeins are
required for a large shawl.
