Bobble Lace Flowers
Triangle Shawl is spread out in this picture to give you another view of the overall design.
Note how the variegated color spreads out more as it reaches the point of
the shawl. |
|
8/2
tencel is a nice laceweight yarn for this shawl and ample
yardage in one skein (1680 yards!) for the shawl plus enough leftover
for a scarf!

Easy
Asymmetry Wrap - #H01
This stunning shawl
may be knit with a variety of coordinated colors. Use your stash yarns or the Heritage Yarns
shown below of which the model shown on the left was knitted.
The shaping of this simple shawl is done with a simple one-row,
super-easy lace pattern that knits naturally on the diagonal. Each
yarn is knit for one row for lots of color and texture interaction.
Simply knit a row and let the yarn stay in place, pick up the next yarn
and repeat so that the three yarns alternate.
Sized for Small-Medium [Large-Extra
Large]. Planned finished measurement: Length - 25 [29 ½]"; total
width of panels as measured along diagonals - 63 [77] ". Allow 350
[500] yards of each of three different yarns in fingering to light worsted
weight. This wrap is easily adjusted to desired width and length with
yardage adjustment. 4-¼ stitches/inch, size U.S. 8/5 mm needles
suggested. Written stitch instructions.
Model was knitted in Heritage Yarns
shown from left: Fringe Benefit 100% rayon
chainette in Plum, Cloud 9 50% cotton/50% rayon textured yarn in Atlantic
Moonglow and Premier 5/2 100% cotton in Atlantic Moonglow. You may
purchase yarns separately from the links above or select from
kits in several colorway
combinations.
Easy Asymmetry can be arranged in a
variety of ways, So have fun with this adaptable wrap in creating the
flattering look you want to match your mood of the day!

Elegantly
Simple Triangle Shawl - #A33
The
stitch-pattern of this beautiful, simple lace shawl is a variation of Shetland feather and fan.
Waves created by the pattern-stitch and movement of variegated color make
this shawl look much more difficult than it is. And, for moral
support, there is online help at the
Elegantly
Simple Triangle Shawl Knitalong blog.
Starting at the lower point
of the shawl and increasing to as wide as you want, it becomes a lovely
fan-shaped neck scarf or shoulder wrap with scalloped points at the upper
edge. A very fine yarn is recommended. Yardage required varies
from 200 yards for a neck scarf of 32" at the widest point to 1000
yards for a larger wrap of 72". Size 5 U.S. (3.75 mm) needles
are recommended. Gauge = 6 stitches per inch over pattern stitch but
not critical with a shawl.
The pattern is easily adaptable to
any yarn in any size. Just choose your yarn and appropriate needle size to
give a pleasingly open fabric, and knit to length desired. This shawl may be worn in
a number of ways including point down in the back or "upside
down" using the point of the shawl to make a nice collar.
Version shown
on the left was knit with one skein of
Cloud 9 in
the
Bird of Paradise
colorway. This yarn is ideal for you if you
want the stretch of wool, cool hand of cotton and sheen and drape of
rayon.

Palette of Colors Shrug - #H48
New!
A heavier, textured yarn
frames an airy laceweight yarn creating what we weavers call honeycombs.
The body of the shrug is
knitted in a width-wise rectangle. The lace rib-stitch cuffs are
knitted circularly from the selvages to create a garment with no sewing
involved! See sample cover page below for more details.
Instructions in 5 sizes from
Petite to Extra Large with cuff to cuff measurements of 55 [58, 61, 64,
68]". Choose two yarns, each in a different color variegation — one yarn
in a slightly heavier crepe-like texture (C), and the other in a lighter
weight smooth yarn (L). For the planned measurements, you will need
approximately 400 [450, 475, 525, 550] yards of C and 550 [600, 650,
700, 750] yards of L. U.S. 8/5 mm needles suggested for gauge of 17 sts
per 4 inches measured over Main Pattern Stitch for Body of Shrug (after
blocking as for final project). U.S. 6/4 mm needles also needed in
your choice of double points or circulars for working the Wrist Bands in
the round. Written stitch instructions.

Peggy's Shawl
- #H43 This shawl is easier to knit
than it looks. Start with just a few stitches at the neckline and
increase to create the triangular shape.
The lace design pointing up
and the center column down the back give this shawl a very slimming
affect.
For the same look in a
Heritage Yarn as the model,
Atlantic Moonglow Serenity or
Cloud 9
would be lovely. Other colorways close in value such as
Magic Carpet Ride would be equally as nice.
Finished size 82" top width
by 41" length at point. 1000 yards fingering weight yarn.
Size 7 U.S./4.5 mm needles suggested or size to give blocked gauge of 7
st./2 in. over lace pattern.
Charted and written stitch
instructions.

Spiral
Nebula - #A71 As you can see by the number of
pictures, this super simple shawl pattern is easily adaptable with any
weight yarn and to any length desired. It can serve as a very
warm shawl or a very small neck accessory. The shape spirals so that
it stays well on the shoulders.
Instructions are given for three general yarn
categories: bulky, medium and fine gauge. Yardage and needles
vary according to the yarn chosen. You can knit a 36" length
with approximately 2250 yards. A 36" length
in bulky weight yarn requires 1575 yards.

Triangles Within Triangles Shawl - #A63
A simple,
head-turning triangular shawl that starts with just a few stitches at the center
neckline, and increases in pattern. Lacy and solid
triangle motifs are set within the larger shawl triangle panels. The
stitch is stockinette-based and pleasing width vs. length triangle
ratio. A
coordinating edging is used to bind off, as well as create a pretty
triangle-shaped finish to the outer edge of the shawl.
For a
36" deep by 72" wide shawl in fingering weight yarn, plan for
approximately 1200 yards at 4-1/2 sts./in. over pattern on size 7
U.S./4.5 mm
suggested - - easily adjusts to other sizes by knitting to length desired,
and other weights of yarn with corresponding adjustment in needle size and
yardage.
The model below was knit by Jackie E-S with one skein of
Cloud
9 and makes a nice shoulder wrap. Only two skeins are
required for a large shawl.

Shown in
Spring at Rocky Springs Cloud 9. Knitted by Jackie E-S.
Note: Spring at Rocky
Springs is no longer available in Cloud 9 but many colorways are
remaining that would be suitable. |

Sue V of Tacoma, WA won the ribbon for Grand Champion at The Western
Washington Fair in Puyallup, WA with her version of the Triangles within
Triangles Shawl, Night of Wine and Roses, shown on the left.
She knit it on U.S. 6
needles with one strand of
The Days of Wine and Roses 8/2 tencel and one strand of
solid black.
Extra repeats make the shawl larger. She estimates that she used
approximately 1100 yds. of each.
Congratulations, Sue! |
