An
elegant but simple lightweight dressy scarf. The main pattern stitch
is a mock eyelet cable, surrounded by a border of garter stitch and
herringbone lace.
Approximate gauge
for the pattern is 4-3/4 st./in. on a size 6
U.S. needle for a finished size of approximately 10" x
72". The pattern calls for 400-500 yds. of laceweight
or fingering weight yarn. Adjust yardage for a scarf of
different dimensions.
The scarf top/left was knitted by Jackie
E-S in
Sagebrush
silk/rayon that is no longer available.
Sagebrush
is still available in other yarns equally as nice
such as
Cloud 9.
I knit the second
scarf in
Atlantic Moonglow Cloud 9 and enjoyed the tracking of color
achieved.
The
knitting gauge of
Cloud
9 is similar as the silk/rayon with just a light
texture. The equal content of cotton and rayon make this a
very nice yarn. The hand of the cotton is quite soft with
the added benefit of drape and sheen from the rayon. I think
you will like the slight stretch as it is easy on the hands while
knitting.
