Heritage Yarns Newsletter #32-1/2
Going to the Polls Again
August 5, 2005
Greetings!
There's a first time for everything
and this is the first newsletter with "1/2" in the name.
Why? Last week's newsletter was incomplete due to an
incorrect link I provided to the poll and would like to apologize if
you were not able to reach the link.
Today is the day I will give myself a
little time to test for a new colorway, weave a little and put away books
of dreamed-about projects. I know we all have a great number of
projects in our heads that never make it to the needles or the looms.
Hope today is the day you give yourself a little time to pursue your
dreams.
Until we meet again,
Margaret <><

What's New at Heritage Yarns
News from my supplier last week was
that the cost of raw manufacturing products have gone up as are their
prices of most of their yarns to vendors. Consequently, I
raised the price of the rayon boucle from $22 to $24 and the Möbius Zigzag
Kit to $28 in anticipation of the new price. The good news is
that the rayon boucle came in and in a new skein size, 6.25 oz./400 yd.
skeins rather than the 8 oz./425 yd. skeins. So, the price of the
rayon boucle for 8 oz. skeins and Möbius Zigzag kits will go back to
the original price until available dyed 8 oz. skeins are gone. Quantities
are low in the 8 oz. size and number in stock is shown next to
pictures of the yarn at
Rayon Boucle. The Möbius Zigzag kits are available in the same
rayon boucle at Möbius
Zigzag Scarf Knitting Kit.
Look for 6.25 oz./400
yd. skeins of
hand painted rayon boucle.
Read on about color
at
Color Basics.
Take Part in a Yarn Poll

Thanks to those of you who made it to
the poll last week! It was brought to my attention that the link
provided was not working. Results, thus far, are leaning strongly
in one direction. If you haven't cast your vote yet, I invite you to
input your feedback. See more information and corrected link
below.

Peaks and Valleys
knitted in Spring at Rocky Springs 52% Cotton/48% Rayon
The Heritage Yarns collection of
knitting patterns from HeartStrings FiberArts continues to grow as they
continue to grow in popularity. Designer, Jackie E-S, continues to
strive to offer skill-building patterns that are well written even for the
novice lace knitter.
Among the newest is the Peaks and
Valleys Scarf shown above, now in a nice, printed version. This
scarf was knitted in a yarn that used to be a best seller here at Heritage
Yarns. It is the 52% cotton/48% rayon, a very versatile yarn
well-suited for knitting and weaving, both warp and weft. The
price of raw goods continued to escalate until I felt it prudent
to stop offering it. However, it seems there is no replacement
for this wonderful yarn. It is a very smooth, soft yarn and
larger in grist than some I offer. Yards per pound is approximately
1400 or 700/8 oz. skein. I would appreciate your opinion and have
set up a poll at Hand
Painted Yarns for you to participate. I value your
opinion and like offering yarns that you love.
