The pattern calls for approximately 400 yards or 2 oz. (60g) of fine yarn for blocked measurements of 11" by 60".  This scarf would be lovely in 8/2 mill dyed tencel.  Knit on size 6 U.S. (4.0 mm) needles; the average gauge is 4-1/2 stitches per inch over combination of border and main patterns after blocking under tension.  The length is easily adjusted with more or less yarn.  

For a true autumn look, knit in What a Wonderful World.  Other colorways that would work equally well and look completely different are Sagebrush, Red Bluff or Tallahatchee Bridge.
