Thistle Lace Stole - #H35
The complex appearance of this stole
is deceiving as it is really very simple to knit! The pattern is
based on just ten stitches and fourteen rows. And seven of the
fourteen rows are "rest" rows - all purl!
The stole is knitted in two pieces,
then joined in the middle by a easy method that does not require
grafting so that the seam is nearly invisible.
Inspired by the Scotch thistle, the
leaf and flower motifs in this stole grow from larger at the base to taller at the tips.
Although very simple, variation in the design will hold your interest as
will a variegated yarn as shown. Note the nice points on the ends
shaped like the Scotch thistle.
Finished size: 15" x 60"
Yarn and needles: 550 yds.
fingering weight yarn, size 6 U.S./4 mm needles suggested for
blocked gauge of 5-1/2 sts./in. over stitch pattern.
Knit a very affordable hand painted
shawl with yarns from Heritage Yarns. Three of the yarns shown below are
put up on 8 oz. skeins and one skein is ample for a shawl. Knit a shawl and have
yarn left over!
