Scrunch Turtleneck Dickey - #A9

This turtleneck dickey is for those of us who like a little looser fit in a dickey as it is a cross between a turtleneck and a cowl-neck.  It is quick and easy enough for the advanced beginner and will fit almost anyone.  Great for adding a little warmth and casual dress-up to an open neckline.

This pattern calls for approximately 200 yards of a sport weight yarn.  Gauge is 5-1/2 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch on larger needle.  Suggested needle sizes are size 4 U.S. (3.5 mm) circular needle, 16" length and size 6 U.S. (4.0 mm) circular needles (or size to obtain planned gauge), 16" and optional 24" lengths.

Side-to-Side Dickey - #A10

An easy to knit dickey and versatile in size to fit almost anyone.  Sizes vary from small (up to 13" neck) to large (17" +).

This dickey is made starting at one shoulder of the yoke and is worked in stockinette stitch with moss stitch borders across the front and back sections to the other shoulder.  Stitches for the turtleneck are then picked up along the yoke neckline and knit in ribbing.

Hand painted, variegated yarns are particularly nice for this dickey style.  The colors travel vertically in the yoke and horizontally around the neck.

The pattern calls for 200-250 yards worsted weight yarn or use two strands of finer yarn, approximately 3-4 ounces.  Needle size 7 U.S. (4.5 mm) (or size to obtain planned gauge); these needles can be either straight or circular plus size 5 U.S. (3.75 mm) and 6 U.S. (4.0 mm) circular needles, 16" length.  Gauge = 5 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch on larger needle.

V-Collar Dickey - #A8

A very pretty woman's dickey dressy enough to wear under a suit jacket.  Or quickly dress up a crew-neck sweater.

The V shape of the collar front is made by a bias-knit twisted rib pattern.  The collar back is knit at the same time in a companion plaited twist rib pattern stitch.

Yarn and needles:  Sportweight yarn - approximately 220 yards; choose a medium to high-twist yarn to enhance the definition of the twisted stitches in the collar ribbing.

Size 6 circular needle or size required to obtain planned gauge of 5-1/2 st./in. over stockinette stitch - 16" and optional 24" lengths.

Solid colors will give a classic, tailored look.  Choose variegated yarns for a casual look.

Skill Level:  Advanced Intermediate

Yarn suggestions:  (M) Model was knit in a silky Egyptian cotton.

Other options included in the pattern are mitts or muffatees and the beautiful lacy scarf shown that is different but complementary on each side.
