Painted Tencel
Weaving Warps by Heritage Yarns
Painted tencel weaving warps
by Heritage Yarns are better than a weaving kit as you decide the
options that work best for you including pattern, choice of colorways
and tencel wefts.
I
have woven several of these warps; they went on very smoothly with no
tension problems. I warp from back to front and was very satisfied
in the warping and weaving process.
This
tencel scarf is dramatic with lots of color, drape and tying options.
As in all of the
painted warps
and weaving kits,
there are numerous options in the
tencel warps from which to choose.
Finished size of the scarf: approximately 9” X 80” depending on
structure chosen plus a 10-12” fringe on each end.
The length of this warp is 3 meters (6
inches longer than 3 yards). So, you can weave a shorter scarf and still
have a little remaining for a small bag - even more options!
Equipment
needed:
four
to eight shaft loom, shuttle and bobbins.
Suggested
sett: 20 EPI for
plain weave, 24 EPI for twill and 30 EPI for advancing twill

Bird of Paradise
Colors of this warp were inspired by
the beautiful, tropical flower by the same name. Colors are shades
of bright blue and a deeper blue, bright rose, yellow orange and orange. |

Another beautiful scarf by Kathy Looper woven in
Navy 8/2
Tencel. Isn't it iridescent?! Beautiful, Kathy!

Gulf Breeze Sunrise -
Temporarily out of stock
You all inspire me with your
memories of special times. This colorway was designed for a special
friend and by her memories of walks on the pier in Gulf Breeze, Florida. |

Peacock Iridescence
The scarf below right is one
that I enjoyed weaving. The drape is dramatic and I saved as much
of the loom waste as possible for extra long fringe. Colors in the
warp are spring green, black and bright, royal blue.

Rainbow Iridescence Not just for spring, pastels can
brighten up a winter day over a winter-white suit. Pink,
turquoise, lime, tangerine and purple passion make up this colorway.

I wove the scarf
above with
an Olive 8/2 Tencel weft shown on the left. It looks gray in places, beige in others. I
love the way that it softened the color. |

Smoky Places
The concept of this colorway
was from a song of the 50s, "Smoky Places" by the Corsairs. A few
years ago, I designed the colorway for a few of my friends and they
liked it so well that they asked for it again. Since it had no
name, I tossed it around with Don, my husband, the consummate musician, and thus,
the name of the colorway came about.
Any number of colors of
mill dyed tencel could be used with this colorway. I only chose a
few! If you don't see one you like, choose another on the page or
at mill dyed
tencel. I think anything would work! Be sure to click on
Kathy Looper's scarf pictures below to see the hint of color here and
there in this colorway. Her scarf is for a special male friend of
hers and her husband and is woven in black. It would be equally striking for a
lady's scarf; at home at the office, a formal affair - or a smoky place.

Attention: the latest warps in this colorway are a little
different than the picture with addition of dusty blue rather than
medium gray. - 12/6/2007

Spring at Rocky Springs This colorway has remained a
favorite among weavers and knitters alike. The colorway was
inspired by a picnic at Rocky Springs on the Natchez Trace on a
beautiful spring day. Hope you enjoy the warp as well.

What a Wonderful World
This colorway is a celebration
of the ethnicity of our country and has the benefit of black stripes in
the warp. Only a few remaining.
