Painted
Silk Rayon
Weaving Warps by Heritage Yarns
Heritage Yarns silk/rayon
scarf warps have a beautiful drape and hand and will save you time by
warping once and weaving two scarves.
The fiber
content of 20% silk/80% rayon is a wonderful combination for nice drape
and slight sheen that I think you will enjoy.
Pop this warp on the
loom with no painting, no winding. Just beam and weave! This
could almost be called a weekend project if you are a fast weaver.
This warp is 6 meters long (6-1/2 yds.). So, there's plenty of room for 2 scarves and an
evening bag. Weave a scarf for yourself and one for a
friend.
What are the options?
-
You may purchase
painted warps, wefts and pattern separately.
-
Already have a
pattern in mind? Just purchase a warp and weft.
-
Don't see
the weft color you would like to try shown with the warp? Select
any other on this page or from the
mill dyed yarns
selection.
8/2 tencel is the
weft that I recommend for this warp. It provides extra sheen and a
little more drape and is available in a multitude of mill dyed colors.
Put-up is on an approximate 8 oz./1680 yd. cone.
You might like to
paint your own silk/rayon warp.
Finished size of the scarves: approximately
8-1/2" - 12” wide X 65” long, depending on
structure chosen, plus a 6” fringe on each end. Weave longer scarves
or save enough for an evening bag on the end of the warp.
Equipment
needed: four
to eight shaft loom, shuttle and bobbins.
Suggested
sett: 14 EPI
for plain weave, 18 EPI for twill and 20 EPI for advancing twill

Silk/Rayon Painted Warp
Scarf Weaving Pattern
Follow one of the six easy plans to weave two beautiful
scarves or two shorter scarves and a bag. For completely different scarves, treadle differently or
rethread for the second scarf and use a different weft.
Optional
structures given are plain weave and four, four-shaft twills, including an
expanded, advancing broken twill in two treadling options.
Below is a close-up of one of the
options in the pattern, the Three-Karat Diamond. The painted warp is
Atlantic Moonglow
silk/rayon woven with
Black 8/2 Tencel.

Atlantic Moonglow -
Temporarily out of stock This colorway was inspired by an
evening on the beach at Topsail Island, NC. Hope you enjoy the
colorway as much as we did the memorable evening!
The scarf on the left was woven by Laura
Fry with Dark Teal 8/2 tencel in a eight-shaft twill. I surface-designed
with hand-cut stamps, sponges and anything else within reach that had
texture. Click on the picture for the full view of the scarf in a
different window.

Red Bluff -

Red Bluff is in Marion County, MS and
is sometimes referred to as the little Grand Canyon by locals.
Imagine the Grand Canyon on a warm day. |

Summer Haze -
Temporarily out of stock The heat is on in Mississippi.
Cool down with soft, dusty pastels. Great to wear for dress on a
cool, summer evening or with jeans any time of the year. These
colors are great with all complexion types.
Two of the scarves below were
woven on one warp by Kathy Looper. The weft for the one on the left
is grayed teal and on the right is taupe. Kathy said she was a
beginner when she wove these scarves; hard to believe. (-:
She warped once and wove scarves for gifts for two friends. Good
use of color, Kathy.

Subtle and punch together in one

burgundy and black.
