Heritage Yarns Newsletter #7

October 16, 2001

Hi fiber friends,

This is a special edition of Heritage Fiber News in order to bring an announcement of 4 knitted scarf kits.  The yarn is one of which I have received a limited amount and is a very special yarn at a special price.  (No discounts apply.)  It has a smooth, elegant hand and luxurious drape; the fiber content is 25% Silk/75% Rayon. Each kit contains a pattern for a scarf  by master knitter, Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer, and a 4 oz. hand dyed skein or approximately 525 yards of the special yarn.  This is a joint effort by Jackie and me to bring you a quality kit.  Don't miss this opportunity to work with this elegant yarn.  Quantities are limited, so select while selection is good.  The colorways listed are presently dyed and ready to ship.  To view kits, visit What's New or Knitting Kits.

Crest of the Wave Lace Scarf Kit - $15

Jackie says that this lovely lace scarf was named after its main pattern stitch which is a derivative of the Shetland lace stitch 'Feather and Fan' or 'Old Shale.'  The main stitch area of graceful lacy waves is surrounded by a knit-as-you-go elegant ribbed openwork border.  Choose from the Summer Haze or Blue Bayou colorways.  Summer Haze includes colors of dusty mauve, lavender and blue, sage green, taupe and light beige.  Blue Bayou colors are from the River Road as well as  the bayous of Mississippi.

Maple Leaves Scarf Kit - $15

Another lovely, easy-to-knit lace pattern with center panel of maple leaves bordered by lace.  It is available in the What A Wonderful World and Spring  At Rocky Springs colorways.  Spring At Rocky Springs was designed on a ride down the beautiful Natchez Trace.  Strawberry Clover was in full bloom that day at Rocky Springs.  What A Wonderful World is a part of the America the  Beautiful collection and was designed based on the song and the diverse ethnicity of our nation.  Almost every color in this colorway is new including Persian Red and Moroccan Blue.  Other colors in this colorway are Chocolate Raisin, Plum, Cypress, Olive Green and Straw.

Pillared Archways Scarf Kit - $15

is a beautiful rectangular scarf in double chevron-arched stockinette stitch lace pattern bordered by "pillars" of knotted lace stitch.  It is available in Red Bluff and Jewels Are A Girl's Best Friend.  Red Bluff is in Marion County, Mississippi and has much the look of the Grand Canyon and is often called the little Grand Canyon.  Jewels Are A Girl's Best Friend contains almost any jewel a girl could want in brilliant jewel shades of emerald, amethyst, sapphires and rubies!

Reversible Lace Cables Scarf Kit - $15

This is an elegant but simple lightweight dressy scarf.  The main pattern stitch is a mock eyelet cable, surrounded by a border of garter stitch and herringbone lace.  The kit is available in the Sagebrush and Traces of the Natchez Trace colorways.  Sagebrush was designed with Spring and Autumn complexions in mind with colors like sage green, teal and bronze.  Traces of the Natchez Trace was inspired by our beautiful Natchez Trace Parkway here in Mississippi with lush, leafy greens and colors of the forest.
