Heritage Yarns Newsletter #27
February 25, 2005
Hi
friends,
You might notice that this newsletter has the same number as the last.
I generally publish online shortly after sending out the newsletter but
have been quite busy with Don's recent retirement. Then, my computer
crashed with address book and newsletter. Fortunately, almost
everything was backed up. Now, if one of you has the last 26th newsletter,
please send it to me and I will publish online. <g> Meanwhile,
we go forward. The good that came out of it is a nice new computer.
While we were at it, we installed a fax to add to the ways you can order.
Prior to faxing me the first time, you might want to email me so that I
may be certain I am receiving. <g>
All the best,
Margaret Pittman

Southeast Fiber Forum
It's just around the corner! I cannot believe the last year has gone
by so quickly! Dates of the Forum are March 4-6 at the Gulf Park
Conference Center in Long Beach, Mississippi. New this year is
shopping on Friday afternoon. If there is anything special that you
would like for me to bring, email me and I will bag it up with your name
on it. Looking forward to seeing all of you.
Wait List
Heritage Yarns was established with service in mind: special orders,
custom orders, any colorway on any yarn. As the business has grown,
it is no longer possible for me to work in that manner as I do all the
dyeing. (It really is hand painted with dye using a cold water/direct
application process and labor intensive.) Yarns and warps are
offered in a set number of colorways according to which colorways look
best on the particular yarn while offering a variety.
Occasionally, you will notice a yarn, warp, pattern or colorway marked
"temporarily out of stock." I am the first to say that it
doesn't please me to run out of stock. It is my desire to deliver
items that are regularly stocked in a timely manner. Hand painted
yarns and warps are usually back in stock in 3-4 weeks; patterns are
sooner. If you find an item that is marked "temporarily out of
stock," you will now have the option of adding your name to the wait
list for that item. For an example, see Tallahatchee Bridge 8/2
tencel at
Hand painted
Yarns or
Mississippi
Delta River Collection. It is currently marked
"temporarily out of stock" with "Add to wait list?"
underneath. The link will take you to a form that you can submit to
be added to the wait list for the item that is out of stock.
("Add to wait list" will not be under this one long as it is
ready to be washed out.)
New HeartStrings
Patterns
What else is new? HeartStrings FiberArts Lacy Riverine - new for
2005! The pattern is a cuddly set with coordinating scarf, headband
or collar, mitts and muffatees (fingerless gloves) in an undulating lacy
design. The scarf is reversible, and a bonus is that the items in the set
can be worn with either side facing out to give equally pleasing yet
different looks. Lace or light fingering weight yarn, US 4 and 5 needles.
Also from HeartStrings is one that has been around for awhile but one in
which I am just now buying for my collection. It is the Flared Lace
Smoke Ring. The pattern is stunning knitted lace of ribs that
radiate like a fan. The knitted tube is shaped in pattern so that
the bottom is slightly flared. This makes a versatile accessory that
can be worn pulled down around the neck to lay on the shoulders as a
dressy neckline, or pulled up over the head as an elegant head covering.
Suggested yarn is the new silk/rayon at Hand painted Yarns in a colorway like Atlantic Moonglow or one
whose colors are close in value.
See both of these patterns at
Knitting
Patterns.
